why are we not permitted compassion for our enemies? because they’re strangers? because their cause is not just, is not holy, and ours is? . . . because we cannot stop being angry? . . . yes, and because the injustice is so huge. . . . it is not about anyone killing jews because they’re jews it’s about a brave and fierce people resisting being exterminated in their turn, extermination unfortunately being what extermination teaches.
